Winter Resurgence - The Beartooth Chronicles, Book 5
THE WAIT IS OVER! The fifth and final installment of The Beartooth Chronicles, Winter Resurgence, has been released. I’ve included the book blurb, a short quote, and the Amazon buy link. This novel can be read as a stand-alone action-adventure dystopian thriller, though I hope you’ve had the chance to read the preceding novels in the series and have fallen in love with Ash and Caleb’s story.
ABOUT THE NOVEL
In the shadow of a crumbling world,
Ash and Caleb have helped build something rare: a community that thrives
against the odds. High in the rugged Beartooth Mountains, they’ve forged a life
with those they hold dear, far from the chaos of a society on the brink of
collapse. But survival has never been simple.
A volcanic eruption rains ash down on
the community, the government’s desperate geoengineering plan threatens untold
consequences, and the wilderness teems with predators both animal and human. To
make matters worse, their nearest neighbors are an extremist faction whose
ideology is as dangerous as their weapons.
Ash and Caleb must make difficult
choices and take desperate measures to protect their community and each other.
As tensions rise and threats converge, they’ll discover just how far they’re
willing to go—and how much they’re willing to sacrifice—to ensure their fragile
community endures.
Taut with suspense and driven by
unbreakable bonds, Winter Resurgence, is a powerful story of survival,
love, and the fight to create a future worth living for.
EXCERPT
The
horses were on edge, and the sensation of being watched just wouldn’t go away.
Caleb had no doubt everyone heard the noises in the trees, but no one spoke as
they kept walking at a strong pace. After several hours without a break, Caleb
stopped.
“I’m
sure we can all use a breather,” he said as he tied Felix to a tree.
They
secured the horses, retrieved their water bottles and snacks, and found a mound
of rocks clear of volcanic fallout. They sat down, keeping their guns and bows
within arms-reach.
“Are
we going to talk about it or just keep pretending we aren’t being stalked?”
Archie asked.
“I
vote for pretending we haven’t noticed,” Ryan said as he took a bite of jerky.
“We
could shoot off a few rounds in the direction of the noise. I hate to waste
ammunition, but maybe it will scare whatever it is off,” Fiona suggested.
Caleb looked around. He didn’t hear or sense anything at the moment, but he had a good idea from which direction the occasional crunching leaf or broken twig was coming from. He didn’t know if he could really feel the footfalls and heavy breathing or if it was his imagination, but there was definitely something out there.
