MARCH 2026 WRITING AND WANDERING NEWSLETTER

Image
When March hits, I always feel like we are on the downhill side of winter. Unfortunately, Wyoming weather doesn’t necessarily agree. Often it is the month with the highest snowfall and most unpredictable and harsh conditions. Nonetheless, the days are getting longer which gives me hope that spring is on the way.    WRITING My main focus continues to be promoting The Beartooth Chronicles . The fifth and final novel in the series, Winter Resurgence , was released late in 2025, so I’m trying to spread the word. Any help with that would be much appreciated. Here’s a bit about the series. In a world unraveling from relentless natural and human disasters, a determined group form a cooperative community built on sustainability and hope. Their mountain haven, Beartooth, offers safety and solace, but as environmental catastrophes escalate and humanity's darkest instincts emerge, their fragile sanctuary is threatened. Now, the residents must confront an unyielding wave of challenges...

March 2025 WRITING AND WANDERING #Newsletter

February was a brutal month in Wyoming. We always have a lot of wind, so when nearly twenty inches of snow dropped early in the month along with extended periods of single-digit day-time highs, it made for a rough start. Here’s hoping you had milder weather and March brings more sunshine. WRITING I’ve been in kind of a hold pattern on the next book in The Beartooth Chronicles, Evil Under the Mountain . My editor is working through the last round of edits, and we’re probably looking at a couple more reads after that. The cover is still in the design phase, but it still looks like we’re on target for an April 2025 release. The fifth novel in the series, Winter Resurgence, should come out in September 2025. If you still haven’t jumped into this series, the first two novels are available to download at reduced prices from major online book retailers or from Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DMV1QS9Q/   Since I don’t have a lot of writing news to report this month, it’s a ...

#MARCH 2024 #Newsletter – Welcome Spring!

Image
Even though Wyoming and Montana often get a lot of snow in March, I’m still excited when this month arrives. Daylight savings time begins on March 10, 2024, giving us instantly another hour of daylight in the evening. Spring kicks off on March 19, 2024 with the Spring Equinox. On this day, the sun’s rays shine on the equator, giving us twelve hours of sunlight. I love the light, and even if it snows in March, I know warmer temperatures are just around the corner. WRITING NOTES AND NEWS Refuge from the World (The Beartooth Chronicles, book 1) is scheduled to be released later this month, hopefully by March 19, 2024. See the publishers “coming soon” page for more on this book and updates on its release at  https://www.fireandiceya.com/authors/kimmcmahill/bear1.html The next novel in the series, Above the Abyss (The Beartooth Chronicles, book 2) will be released in June or July, with the next two novels in the series to be released every four to five months thereafter. So,...

March 2023 Newsletter – It’s Spring!

Image
Well, we’ve almost made it through the winter. Daylight Savings Time begins on March 12 and Spring begins on March 20, 2023. I’m getting a little less tolerant of the cold, Wyoming winters all the time, but I survived this year by getting down to the Baja region of Mexico for a week. I love the Mayan ruins of the Caribbean-side of the country, but the Baja region has always been my favorite. We saw a lot of whales and dolphins, enjoyed some amazing tacos and tequila, but the best part was just being warm. I hope you all have weathered the winter well, and I hope everyone has a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day. FREEBIES The first three episodes of any Kindle Vella story are FREE. You can find my Vella, Professor of Lies, at https://www.amazon.com/Professor-Lies-Renegades-Redemption-Book/dp/B0BPYNQQY9/ Midnight in Montana (Risky Research Series Micro-read prequel ebook):   https://books2read.com/u/mgjR7K .   Now also available in audio book from Pelican Book Group at https:...

March 2022 Newsletter

MARCH 2022 NEWSLETTER – MARCH MADNESS March Madness means different things to different people. To many, March Madness is the annual college basketball tournament. Although I occasionally get a mild case of basketball fever, usually March signifies the point when I’ve had about enough of winter. Even if I enjoyed winter sports, most are wrapping up for the season and we enter that no-man’s land known in tourist communities as the shoulder season. Coming up in March: Daylight Savings Time begins on March 13 and St. Patrick's Day is coming up on March 17. I hope everyone has a fun and safe St. Patrick's Day.         WRITING NOTES AND NEWS I’ve finished the first draft of my dystopian adventure novel. It will probably go through a couple more iterations before I submit it to a publisher. Currently, the manuscript is being read by my favorite proofreader and, in this case, subject matter expert. It is coming along nicely. Stay tuned for updates. To read my m...
