Happy Easter

Here's wishing everyone a special Easter filled with happiness and Joy. I hope everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends .

Weed Appreciation Day

Image
March 28 is Weed Appreciation Day. Being a recent transplant to Colorado I had to check this one out, and I was relieved to learn that it’s a day in recognition of common weeds found in your lawn or garden. A weed is simply any plant that is not in a place where it should be. Medicinal, herbal, and edible plants, and even flowers are considered weeds if they grow where not wanted. Common weeds do provide some benefit including converting carbon dioxide to oxygen, providing food and shelter for birds and wildlife, some have medicinal value, and others may even make a fine salad or dandelion wine.

Live Life Imagined

“ If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. ”   -Henry David Thoreau-

Equinox, Extraterrestrials, Etc.

Image
March 20 has several designations worth more than just a mention in my March 1 blog post. I think we owe it to the next generation to hand down a planet worth inhabiting, so take a moment on International Earth Day to consider what we can do to sustain a healthy planet that continues to support productive Agriculture (National Agriculture Day). Vital to plant growth is sunshine, and with the arrival of the Spring Equinox, we now have as much light as darkness and the days will only get longer from here. As for Plan B, I guess we can always hope for an Extraterrestrial Abduction or at least a Proposal from that special someone. Please share if you’ve received a proposal on March 20, or if you’ve been abducted by Extraterrestrials on this designated day (or any day).

St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Image
St. Patrick’s Day is a day of celebration in our household, and as you can imagine, we’re pretty fond of corned beef, cabbage, and soda bread. So, put on your green and celebrate.

After a brush with Juarez, Mexico police, a group of American volunteers join Canadian volunteers and their Mexican counterparts at the local’s favorite Chinese restaurant in Juarez to strategize how to complete the operation and meet objectives. Confused? See the post on March 3, 2018.

Tool Worship

Image
I’ll leave the worshiping of tools up to your discretion during the March 11 Worshiping of Tools Day, but don’t gloss over Daylight Savings time. At 2:00 a.m. on March 11 be sure to set your clocks ahead an hour or just to be on the safe side, change the time before going to bed Saturday night.

Adventure Inspirations – Aware of the Outside World

“Through travel I first became aware of the outside world; it was through travel that I found my own introspective way into becoming a part of it.” - Eudora Welty, One Writer's Beginnings

Hugs and Happiness

Image
I wanted to give a special shout out to March 3 and March 4. Here we have two days of upbeat designations and I truly want you to be happy. So give a caregiver and a GI a hug, ponder if pets had thumbs, imagine being surrounded by peach blossoms, and be thankful for your freedom while humming the words to the National Anthem.

March Madness - #Holidays and #Humor

Along with several significant holidays, March has got to have more sillier days designated than any other month. Here’s what you can look forward to this month (and this isn’t even an exhaustive list). Some of these are too good to let go with a mere mention, but this list is already long, so I may expound upon a few in future blog posts. March 1 - National Pig Day and Peanut Butter Lovers’ Day (excited to learn there is actually a day for me!) March 2 – Old Stuff Day, Employee Appreciation Day, National Salesperson Day, and World Day of Prayer March 3 – Caregiver Appreciation Day, I want you to be Happy Day, If Pets had Thumbs Day, National Anthem Day, and Peach Blossom Day March 4 – Hug a GI Day March 6 – Dentist Day and National Frozen Food Day March 8 – Be Nasty Day, International (Working) Women’s Day, and Popcorn Lover’s Day March 10 – Middle Name Pride Day and Johnny Appleseed Day March 11 -   Worship of Tools Day and Daylight Savings begins at 2:00 a.m. M
