Weekly Excerpt - Desperate Dreams

EXCERPT FROM DESPERATE DREAMS Nyla wasn’t sure how much longer she could continue to do this, but most of all she didn’t understand why no one else saw how fundamentally wrong the Facility was. The prison held thousands of people who would have been free just several decades ago. Their crimes weren’t crimes. They were simply trying to live the life America claimed to offer and at one time, the country had been exactly that place. She sat and bowed her head, rubbing her temples, trying to force back the headache she generally got while inside the Facility.   Maybe the fluorescent light was too bright or the air too stale, but no matter the reason, the pain crept behind her eyes as she settled in for the long wait.   Nyla imagined the authorities wanted visitors to feel the chill of the windowless room, to contemplate the silence and the dismal gray concrete walls, ceilings and floor. Writing Contests

Writing contests are a great way to showcase your work and each year Writer’s Digest hosts many great competitions. For their big annual contest, the grand prize winner is featured in the upcoming December issue of the magazine, along with the names of the winners in each category.   There is a lot of high-quality competition, but don’t be deterred. I never won, but in the four years I submitted - 1997, 1998, 2000, and 2002 - I received honorable mentions in the Feature Article Category. It was great for my confidence and a real treat to be mentioned in this widely-distributed magazine. Go to http://writersdigest.com and click on competitions for details. Good luck!

Desperate Dreams

A ruling authority too powerful to challenge, but to those desperate for a new life and a chance at love, defiance is worth the risk...  Desperate Dreams , coming April 20, from Inspired Romance Novels.

New Releases

I’m pleased to announce that Inspired Romance Novels will be publishing three of my novels. The first, Marked in Mexico , was released in January to very favorable reviews. The next, Desperate Dreams , is scheduled to be released later this month and the third, Big Horn Storm , will be release next fall. All are very different stories of survival set in Mexico, Wyoming, New Mexico and Texas, and feature unique heroines who aren’t in the market for love, but are unable to avoid it as they struggle through extraordinary adventures.   I hope you all enjoy the drama, suspense and emotions these strong women encounter as they fight for their lives and discover love in the most unlikely places.

Happy Easter

Here’s wishing everyone a happy Easter and a wonderful spring weekend full of family, friends and festivities.
