Marked in Mexico is still one of my favorite novels and continues to be my best-seller. It has 97 ratings/reviews on Amazon with an average of 4.5. This romantic thriller is fast-paced, gripping, and steeped in danger, and will hopefully keep you turning pages long into the night. Here’s a short blurb. It’s available through most of the major online booksellers, including Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PXLNWC9/ What begins as a dream vacation in the Caribbean turns into a nightmare when armed kidnappers seize tourists at one of Mexico’s most famous Mayan ruins. Their plan is simple—trade the hostages for the release of a jailed comrade in Texas. But when they discover their captives include the daughter of a powerful U.S. senator and a battle-hardened ex-Army Ranger, their scheme spirals out of control. Jessica never imagined her escape from paradise would leave her running for her life through the dense, unforgiving jungle. Jack has survived warzones before, and he refuse...

Exaggerated Real life Adventures

Image
Fishing stories have become synonymous with exaggeration. No harm is ever intended, but after countless retelling of the story, it often morphs into something much more interesting and exciting than the original. The two-pound fish that took several minutes to reel in evolves into an eight-pound monster which battled valiantly for hours before succumbing to your superior skill. This is how many of my real-life adventures have infiltrated my action-adventure novels. I’ve explored numerous Mayan ruins tucked into steamy bug-infested jungles in several countries, yet I’ve always managed to avoid running into looters or ruthless kidnappers; I’ve pondered the current of the Rio Grande, but have suppressed the urge to jump into the churning mud and attempt an illegal border crossing; and I have ridden horseback down a terrifyingly-steep slope in which stopping was not an option as scenes from Man From Snowy River flashed through my mind, all without a single gunshot from a foreign enemy aim...

Marked in Mexico Excerpt

Image
I read a comment from a fellow author recently that her blog followers seem to enjoy excerpts from her books. I’m sure I’ve posted some, most likely on the heels of a new release, but seldom thereafter. So, here’s an excerpt from Marked in Mexico. I’ll try to remember to post about one or two a month so please check back. This novel is available from most on-line book retailers in paperback, ebook, and audio, or paperbacks can be ordered from your favorite bookstore. Here’s a link to Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PXLNWC9/ “The last stop on the tour will be at the sacred well. The sacred well is a sinkhole about sixty-five feet across and is located a half mile from here. Legend is that the sacred well was used for human sacrifices. Skeletons of about fifty people have been found at the bottom, giving credibility to the story. It’s a magnificent feature of the ruins, but if anyone is not up for the hike, you can wait here or meet us back at the bus.” Many of the older particip...

Reality in #Fiction - #Mexico

People often ask how much of the content in my adventure novels is based on real life. Well, it depends on the story. There is very little in Shrouded in Secrets that resembles places I’ve been or things I’ve done, so it required a lot of research. The story is a totally over-the-top action-adventure romantic thriller that takes readers on a high-stakes race around the globe to stop a group of deadly terrorists searching for thirteen mythical relics capable of epic destruction. It was by far my most complex book to write, and involved a cork board, note cards, photos, maps, timelines, and lots of pushpins. Almost all of my other stories contain settings from places I’ve been and/or embellished adventures I’ve experienced and I’ll share a few of those from time to time. When I caught the international travel bug decades ago, I spent quite a bit of time in Mexico and occasionally ventured into Belize. I was, and still am, fascinated with Mayan ruins and never pass up an opportunity ...

Marked In #Mexico

Image
Marked In Mexico , my fourth novel and first published by Prism Book Group, continues to hold a special place in my heart and it continues to be one of my best sellers. Marked in Mexico is pure adventure with a healthy dose of romantic suspense. In the story the characters are inadvertently thrust into a deadly situation where they are forced to fight for survival in the remote jungles of Mexico. Throughout their shared struggles they forge a bond that will last a life time. The action takes off in earnest at the magnificent Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, a place I’ve visited often. Click on the book title to be directed to Amazon.

The Mystery of Ebook Pricing

Image
I don’t always understand how publishers and Amazon price ebooks. Sometimes prices are reduced for promos, like A Taste of Tragedy was awhile back, though the price still hasn’t been raised to its original price of $3.99 from its currently discounted price of $0.99. I have no idea when that might happen. As for boxed sets, they’re often a major bargain. I assume this is to encourage readers to try a new author with very little to lose. My Kindle boxed set is only $3.99 and it includes three of my adventure novels. If you downloaded each separately the cost would be $10.97. So, whatever the reason I always like to pass on to readers that if you haven’t tried my books, the Kindle boxed set is a very economical way to go. If you have read these three novels, I'd love to hear which is your favorite.

Teaser Tuesday - Marked in Mexico

Jack had seen too much death in his thirty-four years of life ¾ some was the natural result of living, but most had come at his own hand or at the hands of others. He would do it again if he had to, but he wished somehow they could find a way out of this mess without him having to kill anyone. . . Nuggets From Life in Fiction – Human Sacrifices

Chichén Itza is home to some of the most magnificent Mayan ruins I’ve ever seen and a perfect place for the action, adventure, and danger to begin in Marked In Mexico .
