Adventure Scrapbook – Old City Cartagena
Cartagena, Columbia was established in 1533 by the Spanish explorer Madrileño Don Pedro de Heredia. The “Old City” is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of the original city walls, constructed to protect its citizens from pirates, are still intact. The wall encircles narrow winding streets lined with colorful Spanish Colonial architecture. Restaurants, performers, and artisans selling their wares create an exciting atmosphere to explore in this amazing part of Cartagena
