When most of us think of the West our minds inevitable drift to rugged and remote landscapes where life is tough, but the people who survive and even thrive despite the hardships are even tougher. Whether we’re talking about an historical or a contemporary western adventure we visualize hard-as-nails and handsome-as-heck cowboys and the strong and determined women who love them. The story can be just as powerful against a backdrop of mountains, rolling plains or the desolate country of the southwest.

My latest novel, Big Horn Storm, is a contemporary western romantic adventure set in rugged mountain country. The story combines a

too-close-to-home military crisis, a traumatic accident and a terrifying bear encounter high in the mountains—to expect help is a delusion no one can afford if they hope to survive.

With a deadly storm brewing in the Big Horns, can the rugged rancher and the sheepherder’s granddaughter survive the wrath of ruthless invaders and rekindle lost love?  To find out, check out Big Horn Storm, available through your favorite on-line retailer in trade paperback or ebook. Keep the romantic images of the west rolling by visiting the next blog on the Romancing the West Blog Tour.

  1. I loved Big Horn Storm! For anyone who hasn't read it yet, I promise you'll love it! My grandfather was a cowboy in the 1920s. How he loved to spin yarns about those days. Sure wish I could sit and hear him tell once more about his adventures on the trail.

  7. Yes, the self-sufficiency of Westerners, like the characters in Kim's books, definitely have an advantage when it comes to survival.

  8. Hi Kim,
It's wonderful that you find romance in the ruggedness of country living. I generally gravitate to Colonial American romances and I often forget that contemporary characters have obstacles to overcome too. Kudos to you for tapping into that reservoir of stories.
