JULY 2026 WRITING AND WANDERING #NEWSLETTER
JULY 2026 WRITING AND WANDERING NEWSLETTER
July is huge in Wyoming. In some towns it feels like the tourists
outnumber the locals during this time. The Fourth of July is probably the
biggest holiday of the year in the state with celebrations lasting weeks.
You’ll find parades, rodeos, fireworks, community music venues, and other
activities in nearly all towns. Some years I get in the spirit and some years I
head for the mountains for a little calm and quiet. This year, I’m leaning
toward quiet. No matter how you choose to celebrate Independence Day and our
country’s 250th birthday I hope you have a safe and enjoyable
experience.
WRITING
I generally post on my own blog, https://kimmcmahill.blogspot.com , about twice a
week, and I will be a “Fearless Friday” guest on Brenda Whiteside’s blog at the
end of the month. You can find her blog at https://brendawhiteside.blogspot.com/.
I’m still waiting on news on a couple
of irons I have in the fire that I mentioned last month. Hopefully, I’ll have something
to share by my August newsletter. Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter using
the link on my blog to have it emailed directly to you so that you don’t miss
any upcoming announcements.
If you download your books from
Smashwords, their 18th annual summer sale runs from July 1 – July
31. There will be incredible deals with discount ranging from 25% to completely
free. Just go to https://www.smashwords.com/sale to find great reads and deeply
discounted prices.
Lastly, I’ve noticed that my free
short story prequel to the Risky Research Series, A Formidable Foe,
consistently ranks within the top 100 in “One-Hour Mystery, Thriller &
Suspense Short Reads.” If you haven’t
checked it out, you can download your free copy from any of the major online
booksellers.
WANDERINGS
June wandering has kept us a little
closer to home. We’ve gone camping, visited several hot springs, and got out on
several nearby golf courses. I forgot how much I enjoy playing golf on one of
the many beautiful little courses we have in Wyoming and neighboring states.
WHAT I’M READING, NOTABLE NOVELS, and INSPIRING AUTHORS
I finished reading, The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown. The
science in this book was more difficult for me to wrap my head around than in
any of his other novels that I’ve read. Despite being a little over my head, I
still enjoyed the twists, turns, intrigue, action, and complex storyline.
I’m currently reading, The Cradle of Ice by James Rollins. It’s
book two of the Moonfall Saga. The first was, The Starless Crown. I
didn’t love it, but since I generally love all of James Rollins books, I
decided to give book two a try. Keeping my fingers crossed.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Most of my novels (depending on publisher) are
available through all the major online booksellers. On Amazon:

Have a wonderful July and holiday celebrating Independence Day and
the 250th birthday of the United States. I truly appreciate your
continued interest in my fictional and real-life adventures.
