FEBRURAY 2026 WRITING AND WANDERING #NEWSLETTER
Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope your new year has started out great. Mine has been quiet, which isn’t unusual for this time of year, but it does give me a chance to work on jigsaw puzzles and read lots of books. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll get the opportunity to get out of the cold soon and explore new places.
WRITING
My main focus at the moment is promoting The Beartooth
Chronicles. The fifth and final novel in the series, Winter Resurgence,
was released in November 2025, so I’m still in that phase of excitement and
trying to get the word out. Here’s what is being said (from a five-star Amazon
review):
“Kim McMahill has written her best book yet. The final
installment of the Beartooth Chronicles…held me captive from start to finish.
During the death hunt, my heart pounded for Caleb and his friends, and when danger
rained down on the community, I simply couldn’t stop reading. Ms. McMahill has
delivered a gripping, well‑written story.”
If you’ve read Winter Resurgence or any of the
other novels in The Beartooth Chronicles and loved it, please spread the
word. Nothing increases readership quite like word-of-mouth. Also, remember
that reviews are critical to getting a novel placed with many marketing venues
and are very much appreciated.
WANDERINGS
Attending a few high school basketball
games has been the extent of my wandering in January. February will likely
follow the same pattern but hopefully some opportunities to enjoy warmer
weather will come about soon.
WHAT I’M READING AND NOTABLE NOVELS
I finished reading, Cross into the Unknow (book 3 in the
End of the Beginning Series) by Judy Baker. I’ve read the first two as well,
and this is probably my favorite. It could be read on its own, but reading the
novels in order helps to keep the characters straight.
I’ve also finished parts one and two of W. Michael Gear’s, Children
of the Dawnland. They were enjoyable and well-crafted, which didn’t
surprise me since I’ve read many of his and Kathleen O’Neal Gear’s books, and
they never disappoint.
After that, I read The Last Dawn: Apocalypse (The Last Dawn
Series Book 1) by Richard C. Hale. It was a great story, so I jumped right into,
The Last Dawn: After Midnight (The Last Dawn Series Book 2).
