MAY 2024 WRITING AND WANDERINGS #Newsletter

Welcome to Spring!

Last month, I took a road-trip south, giving myself a jumpstart on spring. The highlights were visits to Petrified Forest and Organ Pipe Cactus national parks. I’ve always loved the harsh beauty of the desert southwest, and the cultural resources of Petrified Forest were an added bonus.

Here at home, we are seeing signs of spring, and I couldn’t be happier. Soon, my garden will be planted, the trees will have leaves, and the temperatures will be much more pleasant.

I’m looking forward to getting out, exploring, and enjoying nature. I hope to share those adventures with friends, family, and fellow fans of adventure fiction and the great outdoors. If you aren’t following me already, stop by and check out any of my social media platforms (listed at the end of this post). Thanks in advance, and have a wonderful spring.

WRITING NOTES AND NEWS

Refuge from the World (The Beartooth Chronicles, Book 1) was released just over a month ago, and reviews are coming come in. You can read the rest of this review on Amazon.

“A chilling scenario depicting the future consequences of global warming sets the stage for this YA dystopian tale…

The world-building is detailed, depicting not only the shifting geography, but also the changes in wildlife behavior. From the beginning of the story, a sense of danger looms over the characters that carries through to the end, leading into the next book of the series coming this summer…

I highly recommend this slightly terrifying dystopian tale for fans of Hunger Games and the Divergent Series. My Rating: 5 stars.” N.N. Light

I also want to express my sincere gratitude to all who ordered my novel, and  to give a special shout out to all readers who write reviews or give ratings to books, which helps with a book’s visibility. For those who haven’t yet grabbed a copy, I hope you will join in this unforgettable journey to the isolated mountain community of Beartooth. It’s an epic story of survival, courage, and finding hope in the midst of an environmental crisis and humanity in chaos.

The next novel in the series, Above the Abyss (The Beartooth Chronicles, Book 2) will be released summer 2024. My awesome editor has already completed the first couple of rounds of edits, which have been addressed and forwarded on for the next phase in the proofreading and editing process. I’ve been very pleased with the amount of scrutiny given to my novel by the publisher, editors, and staff at Fire & Ice Young Adult & New Adult Books.

WHAT I’M READING

I’ve recently finished Morning Star, the third novel in the Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown. Great story, and I plan to continue with Iron Gold eventually, but thought I’d take a break and read Gone by Michael Grant.
