Be Adventurous

You might wonder why I feature new releases on my blog that are not necessarily adventure novels. Even though I read and write adventure, with my favorite authors being Clive Cussler and James Rollins, and it is truly my passion, part of being adventurous is trying new things, including books. You’ll never know what amazing novels, experiences, and people await you if you never leave your comfort zone.    “If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home.” — James Michener

Adventure Scrapbook – Montezuma Well

Image
Arizona is home to one of the most well-known sites in the world, the Grand Canyon. But, it’s also home to a myriad of tiny treasures like Montezuma Well. This sinkhole in the desert contains over 15 million gallons of water and its cliffs are dotted with small ancient dwellings.   For many cultures, the Well is sacred, a site to be respected. Descending toward the water’s surface along a narrow path, leaving the harsh desert behind, watching closely for hidden rattlesnake inhabitants among the lush riparian vegetation, it’s easy to believe the Well is indeed a place of power.

Sneak Peak at Storm's Strength

Welcome to Sneak Peek Sunday for May 11, where authors post six paragraphs, no more, no less, from one of their novels, and provide links to other blogs so readers can hop around and discover new and exciting books and authors. Here’s a glimpse at Big Horn Storm , a contemporary western romantic thriller. Enjoy! And for the latest updates, please follow me on twitter at https://twitter.com/kimmcmahill .   BIG HORN STORM   The sound of a man’s voice made Niki’s head whip around as she tried to bring Storm under control. The man was not speaking English and the insignia on his uniform did not belong to the United States military, nor did the uniform sport a maple leaf such as the one she had seen on the helicopter the previous day. Thoughts swirled through her head, making no sense at all, but the one thing she was certain of, was that she was in deep trouble.   Niki reined Storm around, now surrounded by five more men. Her body went rigid as the horse’s legs suddenly stiffened.

Adventure Scrapbook – Cobá

Image
I’ve visited the Mayan ruins of Cobá located on the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico several times, and they’ve never ceased to amaze me. It’s been a few years, but on those earlier visits, I was surprised to have the place nearly to myself. Wandering through the winding dirt paths between temples and ruins early in the morning to the sounds of birds and other unseen creatures was plenty to inspire, Deadly Ruins .
