June 2022 Dates of Note

Image
I love June, it feels like the true start to summer. May in Wyoming can still be a bit chilly, and overnight lows can still plummet enough to ruin a young garden. On top of nice weather, here are a few days to watch for this month.  June 6 - D Day, WWII June 14 - Flag Day June 19 - Father's Day and Juneteenth Day June 21 - Summer Solstice

Wilderness is not a Luxury

“Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread. A civilization which destroys what little remains of the wild, the spare, the original, is cutting itself off from its origins and betraying the principle of civilization itself.” - Edward Abbey

Magical May I always look forward to May. The weather warms and I spend the month planning my garden and nursing the tomato and pepper plants I’ve started in the house. I usually plant outside in late-May or early-June, depending on the weather. April was a very exciting month too. My husband and I spent a few weeks in Portugal. From Lisbon, to Porto, and up the Douro River to the border with Spain, it was all amazing and we only scratched the surface. We’ve already missed a couple of days in May like National Teacher’s Day and Cinco de Mayo, but here’s what’s happening for the rest of the month. May 5 - Cinco de Mayo May 7 - Kentucky Derby Day May 8 - Mother’s Day, and VE Day-WW II May 13 - Friday the 13th May 21 - Armed Forces Day May 30 - Memorial Day   FREEBIES I noticed my publisher has one more code for a free audio download of A Taste of Tragedy.
