first novel in <b><i>The Beartooth Chronicles</i></b> is available for pre-order
and will be released on March 19, 2024. <b><i>The Beartooth Chronicles</i></b>
follows the lives of the residents of a small mountaintop community as they
struggle to find solutions to the problems threatening their survival.</span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">For twenty-five years, Beartooth’s isolated
location has insulated it from the problems besieging the rest of the country
and the world. As environmental disasters multiply, bringing out the worst in
humanity, the residents of Beartooth must work together to protect the life
they have built, and to hold on to their joy and hope for the future.<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-pagination: none;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">In book one, <b><i>Refuge from the World</i></b>,
you’ll meet many of the residents of Beartooth, including Ashley McPhee and
Caleb Solomon. Even though they have known each other most of their lives, Ash
and Caleb’s relationship changes dramatically in a short period of time. As
they leave school behind, they realize that life is changing, and their
generation needs to step up and take an active role in the community,
especially after learning of the government’s plan to use stratospheric aerosol
injections to cool the planet. They embrace the challenges of learning about
each other, dealing with tragedy and grief, entering adulthood, protecting
their community, and trying to find solutions to a rapidly changing environment
and deteriorating world. They encounter deadly predators and ruthless
neighbors, experience epic adventures, and enjoy a growing love and respect for
each other along the way. <o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-pagination: none;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">As the series evolves, the
characters take on more responsibilities, start families, and are forced to face
how far they will go to protect each other and their community. I hope you will
join in this epic journey of adventure, discovery, tragedy, love, and hope.</span></p>

get a lot of snow in March, I’m still excited when this month arrives. Daylight
savings time begins on March 10, 2024, giving us instantly another hour of
daylight in the evening. Spring kicks off on March 19, 2024 with the Spring
Equinox. On this day, the sun’s rays shine on the equator, giving us twelve
hours of sunlight. I love the light, and even if it snows in March, I know
warmer temperatures are just around the corner.</span></p>

quote in my blog header. Here is the rest. </span><p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

Newsletter, I embarked on an amazing whale watching adventure to San Ignacio
Lagoon in Mexico. The protected lagoon provides a perfect habitat for Pacific
gray whales to breed and calve. The whales in this sanctuary are curious, and
the numbers of tour boats are limited, which allowed us to see the whales up
close. It was a humbling experience to interact with these gentle giants. It
was a trip of a lifetime. <div><br /><o:p></o:p><p></p>

invented by the imagination or feigned; specifically: an invented
story.” To me this means that fiction is limited only by the author’s
imagination. As long as the story conveys its intended message and entertains
the reader, almost anything goes. One of my favorite movies is, The Secret Life
of Walter Mitty. This story is riddled with implausible and unrealistic scenes,
but to me it doesn’t matter—it makes me laugh, it makes me smile, it reminds me
to live life, just don’t sit around and dream about what’s out there. So, the
next time you pick up a novel go all in. Don’t worry about if something can
really happen, just relax your mind and let yourself be entertained.</span><p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>Kim McMahillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06587824891982078624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1069989881160921461.post-22943569012140252942024-01-19T01:00:00.000-08:002024-01-19T01:00:00.160-08:00Real #Adventure and #Fiction<p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh9FI7fJfYmWtSLy2x-H04w4yI-LmTGMs0neoSHqmZ4tQ_H8ii_E19Kj8RxNwSpK9z2vzjJ-Rxam5y18dNBjz1EdZyOkdc1-8eW_ZPs-YK4CuynSNO040U72quAd4AUo9p06X-RUw6kIy4lhR59RxR6afJ9X5EbqukASbBkowIjLRg3I1U0Oc2CZA0_Qc/s1393/books%20updated.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1393" data-original-width="1080" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh9FI7fJfYmWtSLy2x-H04w4yI-LmTGMs0neoSHqmZ4tQ_H8ii_E19Kj8RxNwSpK9z2vzjJ-Rxam5y18dNBjz1EdZyOkdc1-8eW_ZPs-YK4CuynSNO040U72quAd4AUo9p06X-RUw6kIy4lhR59RxR6afJ9X5EbqukASbBkowIjLRg3I1U0Oc2CZA0_Qc/w166-h214/books%20updated.jpg" width="166" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana;">Fishing stories
have become synonymous with exaggeration. No harm is ever intended, but after
countless retelling of the story, it often morphs into something much more
interesting and exciting than the original. The two-pound fish that took
several minutes to reel in evolves into an eight-pound monster which battled
valiantly for hours before succumbing to your superior skill. This is how many
of my real-life adventures have infiltrated my action-adventure novels. </span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">I’ve
explored numerous Mayan ruins tucked into steamy bug-infested jungles in
several countries, yet I’ve always managed to avoid running into looters or ruthless
kidnappers; I’ve pondered the current of the Rio Grande, but have suppressed
the urge to jump into the churning mud and attempt an illegal border crossing;
and I have ridden horseback down a terrifyingly-steep slope in which stopping was
not an option as scenes from <i>Man From Snowy River</i> flashed through my
mind, all without a single gunshot from a foreign enemy aimed at me or my
trusted steed. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;">If you’ve read my novels, you may recognize some of these
scenes, grossly exaggerated, of course. If you haven’t, I hope I’ve piqued your
curiosity enough to give one of them a try. You can find more information about
my books under “Pages” and “Books – Novels & Short Stories” on the lefthand

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Refuge from the World (The Beartooth

mid-February 2024. The plan is for the next three novels in the series to be
released every four to five months thereafter. So, if you love the first book,
you won’t have to wait long for the second.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

The days are
short, the temperatures are chilly, and we’ve already seen plenty of snow. I
always look forward to the winter solstice, which falls on December 21 this
year. It will be the shortest day of the year, but after that, the amount of
daylight increases ever so slightly from there on out. It kind of feels like
we’re over the hump on the solstice even though it is technically the first day
of winter.<o:p></o:p></span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">The holiday season has not started out
well, but I anticipate the month ending on a very happy note. I’ve always been
relieved once we’re into the new year and the holidays are behind me, but I try
to stay upbeat for those who are all in when it comes to the festivities.
Whether your celebrations are tepid or over the top, I hope you’re finding joy
in the holiday season.</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE8Y0FSSqzmf6MCBTkFLNE24YHpTO5W_pDR2M_lK5LujAzTAT_B0DiqiIlEN_J70IARG1gz9t4RTVnMaNm5Pxdk7cWzbDKsf0HLYuxzNHFXsxP3lgXRC2CZ8NtPviMY_yOVW8AIZ8f7OaixT4GCqLcEU0YqCfFZCoB_PnMD4wnlmeLlcbHviwwigQSlJk/s1024/Christmas%20trees.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="931" data-original-width="1024" height="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE8Y0FSSqzmf6MCBTkFLNE24YHpTO5W_pDR2M_lK5LujAzTAT_B0DiqiIlEN_J70IARG1gz9t4RTVnMaNm5Pxdk7cWzbDKsf0HLYuxzNHFXsxP3lgXRC2CZ8NtPviMY_yOVW8AIZ8f7OaixT4GCqLcEU0YqCfFZCoB_PnMD4wnlmeLlcbHviwwigQSlJk/w214-h195/Christmas%20trees.jpg" width="214" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /><o:p></o:p></span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>WRITING NOTES AND NEWS</b><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I received the final round of edits from
my editor for, <i>A Refuge from the World (The Beartooth Chronicles, Book 1)</i>.
It’s looking like we’ll have a February 2024 release. The plan at the moment is
for the next three novels in the series to be released every four to five
months thereafter. So, if you love the first book, you won’t have to wait long
for the second.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">While working on edits for the first
four novels in my new dystopian-adventure series, I’ve finished the fifth novel
in the Beartooth Chronicles. I continue to write and release Kindle Vella
episodes (Links below). I’m also trying to grow my readers and followers. If
you aren’t already, I would appreciate any new followers to any of my social
media platforms below. Thanks in advance. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>WHAT I’M READING</b><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I finished <i>Screamcatcher: Web World</i>
by Christy J. Breedlove and Chris H. Stevenson, published by Fire & Ice Young
Adult & New Adult Books, who is also the publisher of my upcoming series,
The Beartooth Chronicles. There was lots of action and I enjoyed the story.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I’ve also finished <i>Red Rising</i>
by Pierce Brown. It’s an off-planet dystopian novel. It was pretty entertaining,
so I’ll probably check out the next in the series.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Now, I’m into, <i>End of the Beginning</i>,
by Judy Baker. I’ve read quite a few of her novels, and she never disappoints. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

of a blog tradition, I’m sharing my pumpkin cheesecake recipe with readers since
I’m not a huge fan of the traditional pumpkin pie. Enjoy the cheesecake, if you
choose to give it a try, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.</span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>Crust</b>: Crush 10
whole graham crackers and mix with 3 tablespoons of sugar and 3 tablespoons of
butter. Press into a 10 inch cheesecake spring pan (bottom and 2 inches up the
sides). Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>Filling</b>: Beat
together until smooth, 2 (8-oz) packages of cream cheese (works best if
softened), 1 cup of light cream, 1 cup of canned pumpkin, ¾ cup of sugar, 4 egg
yolks (save whites in a separate bowl), 3 tablespoons of flour, 1 teaspoon of
vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ½ teaspoon each of ginger, nutmeg, and salt.
Beat egg whites until stiff and gently fold into the pumpkin mixture. Pour over
prepared crust and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Baking times vary, so make
sure the center is set. I’ve found it often takes longer than the 1 hour noted
in the recipe.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>Topping:</b> Gently
mix 2 cups of sour cream, 4 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla
until well blended. Spread topping evenly over cheesecake and bake another 5
minutes. Refrigerate and serve cold.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

home. It was an amazing trip filled with amazing scenery, interesting wildlife,
fantastic food, and diverse weather (we had sun, rain, and snow at Crater Lake

is just around the corner, fall might be my favorite season. I love the colors,
temperatures, and the lull after a busy tourist season. Everything in the
garden has been harvested, frozen, dried, canned or otherwise dealt with. It’s
been a lot of work, so I’m kind of glad that’s behind me for now, though by the
first of the year, I’ll be itching to start planning next year’s garden.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgojdCkMGNkvX3pTnNPxA8jS6Q9hiPhKlz8kNiCs5vRanF87TVcA4vApPH1ujC2vQ_2oVpSwOUOi5n8lYKwGTLz4sHWT95XzhDI-G9dJuIyoee4kgag7MQYkYqQVgvVC9q1ux5Oporm0GxxaAbmklAAKOVAj_c0v2RSrY9xuSTkO46wTFDntrqVuGVMpa8/s4032/Hwy%20101%20%20(4).JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="189" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgojdCkMGNkvX3pTnNPxA8jS6Q9hiPhKlz8kNiCs5vRanF87TVcA4vApPH1ujC2vQ_2oVpSwOUOi5n8lYKwGTLz4sHWT95XzhDI-G9dJuIyoee4kgag7MQYkYqQVgvVC9q1ux5Oporm0GxxaAbmklAAKOVAj_c0v2RSrY9xuSTkO46wTFDntrqVuGVMpa8/w252-h189/Hwy%20101%20%20(4).JPG" width="252" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTowlcbcc9HRlcU0A3pbNXe3yp_UmReu2OljWYl8i5MtUmbszav7FvI2wHpvJoFZaZu8l-IiQkSINdtTXvLP_fsg7c3sfdvD8AwPlduvJmTF76Hi-7X5vj9Y7F6dSEVqlx631R82QFl7HFNrvQKVFKbKqKh64al56qNA8-87SFECUqRbkF_JbZmhfWDBA/s4032/Redwoods%20(29).JPG" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="173" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTowlcbcc9HRlcU0A3pbNXe3yp_UmReu2OljWYl8i5MtUmbszav7FvI2wHpvJoFZaZu8l-IiQkSINdtTXvLP_fsg7c3sfdvD8AwPlduvJmTF76Hi-7X5vj9Y7F6dSEVqlx631R82QFl7HFNrvQKVFKbKqKh64al56qNA8-87SFECUqRbkF_JbZmhfWDBA/w130-h173/Redwoods%20(29).JPG" width="130" /></a></div><br />With slower times associated with the
season, we’ were able to get out and take a road trip to the west coast while
the roads and high-mountain passes were still in good shape. It was my first

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>WRITING NOTES AND NEWS</b><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I’ve finished the latest round of
edits on, <b><i>A Refuge from the World (The Beartooth Chronicles, Book 1)</i></b>. It’s
slated to be released in early 2024. As soon as everyone signs off on the
edits, my editor is diving right into book two which will hopefully release
two- to four-months after the first. I’m very excited about my publisher’s
aggressive release schedule for this series. If you love the first book, you
won’t have to wait long for the second.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">While waiting to work on edits for the
first four novels in my new action-adventure, dystopian series, I finished the
fifth novel in the <b><i>Beartooth Chronicles</i></b>. I also continue to write and release Kindle
Vella episodes. Links to all my Kindle Vella stories are below under “Kindle
Vella.” <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>WHAT I’M READING</b><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I devoured the latest release from
James Rollins, <b><i>Tides of Fire</i></b>. I’ve read all of the books in the Sigma Force
series and absolutely love them. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve really been enjoying
young-adult/new-adult fiction lately. In keeping with that, I picked up <b><i>Screamcatcher:
Web World</i></b> by Christy J. Breedlove and Chris H. Stevenson, published by Fire
& Ice Young Adult Books, who is also the publisher of my upcoming dystopian
series, The Beartooth Chronicles. So far, I’m enjoying the story.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

We got the van out in
May and down into southern Utah for a few days. We didn’t come up for a breath
of air again until the middle of August and made a quick trip to Canada and the
Eastern Seaboard. We saw some beautiful scenery, but I’m a little spoiled with
all the amazing landscapes close by in Wyoming and Montana. But, we did get
some delicious seafood, which isn’t quite as easy to come by at home and a real
treat.</span><p></p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeav5mkbvPfRgpyKGneWzG6hcs16cCtBT3VSuJL6pZKDSqHMwkgdc7sjIEDjLbfYcyIV-IG8QvJcTyx4QFz41M1yAzzBRWew9tktoJnpz_U_Cd3QjEZAZ7azA4aTNESohyaRvm51XbSesMlp2ftTVRerfzIiAnfLk-jPK1Si0fFcczQNWLJDcao_jTsVU/s4032/Maine%202023%20(15).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeav5mkbvPfRgpyKGneWzG6hcs16cCtBT3VSuJL6pZKDSqHMwkgdc7sjIEDjLbfYcyIV-IG8QvJcTyx4QFz41M1yAzzBRWew9tktoJnpz_U_Cd3QjEZAZ7azA4aTNESohyaRvm51XbSesMlp2ftTVRerfzIiAnfLk-jPK1Si0fFcczQNWLJDcao_jTsVU/w212-h282/Maine%202023%20(15).JPG" width="212" /></a><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p>Kim McMahillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06587824891982078624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1069989881160921461.post-9412752423969844352023-10-06T02:00:00.000-07:002024-01-07T15:24:01.264-08:00#OCTOBER 2023 #Newsletter – HAPPY FALL!<p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikxNMcAKoYIDGvR0AsRuCouZPU9fbj1Knvn93yCsPkM6dGUj2eWLEKimbqpaUhSqFCsky1_buc6KsqIWUMZRxFGd0f3QjJUZ4gvpSryYrWaMR3S--jkhtn7dD5HkG71P6O0kkTDfZkeIgMuymf9503yXMnFHvPrgbe0ZpgZ93OQ2G4xPkNripZCuXNmws/s1080/2023-08-18%20garden.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="810" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikxNMcAKoYIDGvR0AsRuCouZPU9fbj1Knvn93yCsPkM6dGUj2eWLEKimbqpaUhSqFCsky1_buc6KsqIWUMZRxFGd0f3QjJUZ4gvpSryYrWaMR3S--jkhtn7dD5HkG71P6O0kkTDfZkeIgMuymf9503yXMnFHvPrgbe0ZpgZ93OQ2G4xPkNripZCuXNmws/w176-h234/2023-08-18%20garden.jpg" width="176" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br />Fall is here. I had a good run with
the garden this year despite a slow start. It was cool and rained the entire
month of June. July and August saw a few 100-degree days, and hints of fall in
the air were showing up in September. I already miss the long days, but I’m
enjoying the mild temperatures and college (and local high school) volleyball.
I hope your fall is off to a good start and you’re enjoying the changing of the
seasons.</span><p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I’m just wrapping up the first draft
of the fifth novel in the Beartooth Chronicles, my new, action-adventure,
dystopian series. And, just in the nick of time. It’s in a good spot to set it
aside for a while and return my focus to book 1. I have a new editor, and I’m
very excited to work with her on this project. I am so anxious to share this saga
with everyone. The first novel is slated for an early 2024 release. I’ll keep
you posted on its progress and hope to have a cover to share with you soon. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

release Kindle Vella episodes. Professor of Lies (Renegades’ Redemption Book 1)
and Lessons in Deception (Renegades’ Redemption Book 2), are complete, so all
episodes are available to read. New episodes of The Ninth Level post every Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturday. New episodes of, A Recipe for Revenge, post on Sunday,
Wednesday, and Friday. A Recipe for Revenge is the fifth story in my Risky
Research series, but reads well as a stand-alone story. The first four novels
in the series and two free prequel micro-reads are available from your favorite
online book store. You can find all links below. <o:p></o:p></span><p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I finished, Sent (The Missing: Book

on trying one more before deciding whether or not to move on. But before I do
that, I’m so excited to get the latest release from James Rollins, Tides of
Fire. I’ve read all of his books in the Sigma Force series and absolutely love
them.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

all but done for the season. Only a few hardy plants remain. I had decent
production despite an odd summer. I had to plant a couple weeks later than
usual due to cold overnight temperatures. It stayed cool and rained pretty much
the entire month of June. July and August turned hot, some days reaching over
100 degrees. I had a good harvest of beans, bell peppers, lettuce, cabbage, and
chilis/peppers (Anaheim, Serrano, Jalapeno). I got enough corn, tomatoes,
zucchini, peas, and cucumbers to enjoy, but not enough to brag about. And, the
brussel sprouts never matured. The one big surprise was our grape vines. It’s
our vines fourth year and we finally got enough wine grapes to attempt a few bottles
of wine. Overall, I’m satisfied, but I’m already looking forward to gardening
season 2024.</span><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXwNnHywHFD7NaXbh0-WTPZ-dKPEkopMJOsFO1aN5CQ-l28zRmkHv2jzU7T4rhWcqOIORbHp_Y7oNMIsS3eof8glCS0v9xqyePJGQau4TEZ15rmu20W1DH6k5-JHb0YOc0FZA9XSc-uqCCYKBhO5cMxHBwtOUdG8Ypn9VxVmHiX1mN8IjmQvKWeFDC-Gk/s1080/2023-08-17%20chilis.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="810" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXwNnHywHFD7NaXbh0-WTPZ-dKPEkopMJOsFO1aN5CQ-l28zRmkHv2jzU7T4rhWcqOIORbHp_Y7oNMIsS3eof8glCS0v9xqyePJGQau4TEZ15rmu20W1DH6k5-JHb0YOc0FZA9XSc-uqCCYKBhO5cMxHBwtOUdG8Ypn9VxVmHiX1mN8IjmQvKWeFDC-Gk/s320/2023-08-17%20chilis.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p>Kim McMahillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06587824891982078624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1069989881160921461.post-38712091390101886812023-09-22T01:00:00.000-07:002023-09-22T01:00:00.145-07:00The Power of Water<p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRXcd5FigcFF6PB_9106gN846OKfTdofyKuM99sxNoegq6X-WUepmv-e2iTpWg0uho9835l1qSQ8etYFSKddS6TfdlzD88fDujGL3ZuUfFIXJllfNRjDyrJqjXT8IMJELl4K_z8b8V7GQ3149au02fYub_y6DGwwBibXRzNSi0rXR7u1DvVfIVlMF49R0/s1080/Clarks%20fork%20falls%20and%20abandoned%20power%20plant%20area.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="810" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRXcd5FigcFF6PB_9106gN846OKfTdofyKuM99sxNoegq6X-WUepmv-e2iTpWg0uho9835l1qSQ8etYFSKddS6TfdlzD88fDujGL3ZuUfFIXJllfNRjDyrJqjXT8IMJELl4K_z8b8V7GQ3149au02fYub_y6DGwwBibXRzNSi0rXR7u1DvVfIVlMF49R0/s320/Clarks%20fork%20falls%20and%20abandoned%20power%20plant%20area.jpg" width="240" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br />Despite being a poor swimmer and having a healthy respect for water, I'm fascinated by it. I also understand its vital role in the survival of humanity and our planet. Access to clean water is essential for the health of people around the world, and is necessary for growing food and maintaining a healthy and function ecosystem. But on a less serious side, water has a calming influence on the soul. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting on a beach or lakeshore watching the water or floating down a lazy river. And often, I just enjoy its beauty and am mesmerized by its power. </span><p></p>Kim McMahillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06587824891982078624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1069989881160921461.post-51766814245966868012023-09-15T02:00:00.000-07:002023-09-15T02:00:00.141-07:00Hidden Gem<p><span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-size: large; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpQxueUL5Wagt_MSwsiqnWGHvm7MEkU9hqOmuPyF49hjw4JS62Oy7Z_enPQWyTcrzI_KAzcwZewEAWo9x9q8ETIkWJgdD8-sco_rLVwiSWjX2TLdn8WZzOq8RfFrRVC_k_KtRRK32iD-zCsYatBwVzRKlrTNMLcaHjZBDkWUUgk4eOiUrlYzvQy-5cE0M/s1810/Legends%209-2023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1810" data-original-width="1080" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpQxueUL5Wagt_MSwsiqnWGHvm7MEkU9hqOmuPyF49hjw4JS62Oy7Z_enPQWyTcrzI_KAzcwZewEAWo9x9q8ETIkWJgdD8-sco_rLVwiSWjX2TLdn8WZzOq8RfFrRVC_k_KtRRK32iD-zCsYatBwVzRKlrTNMLcaHjZBDkWUUgk4eOiUrlYzvQy-5cE0M/w161-h234/Legends%209-2023.jpg" width="161" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /><span style="font-size: large;">I may have posted about this hidden gem

feel the subtle shift of the seasons, I look back with a little disappointment. Summer
is usually my favorite season, but it didn’t start out well and ended even
worse. Last summer was consumed with sadness and emotional upheaval. I didn’t
think it could get worse, but it did. I won’t go into details since everyone
has their own issues to deal with. Instead, I’ll share a few highlights.<o:p></o:p></span><p></p>

think this year’s garden is one of my best ever. I also got to spend a lot of
time with my sister this summer, but unfortunately, not under the best of
circumstances. <br /><o:p></o:p></span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Based on temperature, I always think
of summer in Wyoming as running from June through August. Technically, the
first day of fall this year is September 23, so I guess the summer isn’t over
yet, and I’m still hopeful that things will pick up.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><b style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">WRITING NOTES AND NEWS</b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Editing on the first of four novels in
the Beartooth Chronicles, my new young-adult/new-adult action-adventure
dystopian series, is in the works. I have a new editor, and I’m very excited to
work with her on this project. I am so anxious to share this saga with
everyone. The first novel is slated for an early 2024 release. I’ll keep you
posted on its progress and hope to have a cover to share with you soon. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I continue to write and release Kindle
Vella episodes. <b><i>Professor of Lies (Renegades’ Redemption Book 1)</i></b> and <b><i>Lessons in
Deception (Renegades’ Redemption Book 2)</i></b>, are complete, so all episodes are
available to read. New episodes of <b><i>The Ninth Level</i></b> post every Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturday. New episodes of, <b><i>A Recipe for Revenge</i></b>, post on Sunday,
Wednesday, and Friday. <b><i>A Recipe for Revenge</i></b> is the fifth story in my Risky
Research series, but reads well as a stand-alone story. The first four novels
in the series and two free prequel micro-reads are available from your favorite
online book store. You can find the link below to A Recipe for Revenge. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>WHAT I’M READING</b><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I finally finished <b><i>The Tomb of
Hercules</i> </b>by Andy McDermott. I love action- adventure stories set in
exciting locations around the world. On this front, the author delivered. I
wasn’t in love with the main characters, but this is not the first book in the
series, so reading the first book may have helped me better develop an
attachment to the characters. Overall, though, I enjoyed the story and it was
well written. I would definitely read more books by this author.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I also finished <b><i>The Children of Dune</i></b>
by Frank Herbert. It’s the third in the Dune series. I enjoyed the story, but
it’s definitely not for everyone. First, you have to enjoy sci-fi, and the
writing style takes a bit to get used to. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I’ve just started, <b><i>Sent (The Missing:
Book 2)</i></b>, by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The Missing series is a young-adult, sci-fi
series. I enjoyed book 1 enough that I thought I’d continue on. I’ve found
myself reading more young-adult/new-adult fiction lately. I’ve developed a real
enjoyment for sci-fi and dystopian fiction. Many dystopian novels are targeted
at the YA/NA reader, and storylines often incorporate somewhat plausible future
scenarios if humankind doesn’t change their way. I love pondering the, what if,
possibilities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
